The Story:

This client found me through ABC Carpet and Home in Manhattan. Her designer suggested I come in to make something to enclose the staircase in her rooftop solarium so that it would be safe. It had a hatch but the door was removed, so I had to design a system to clad what was there and make it beautiful. The most important aspect was making sure that any guests she had would be safe. Secondly was to make the enclosure fit with the established design seamlessly. Her happiness with the finished product ensured that I had succeeded on all fronts.

Horse Sculpture Lamp

Specs:

78” to top of lamp shade. 55” to top of head. 38” to saddle

The Story:

This piece was for the same client that I did the Solarium Staircase Enclosure. She had this brass horse sculpture that she wanted to get rid of but her designer proposed we make it into a lamp. We all loved the idea so the next step was figuring out details. I think the trickiest part of this lamp was snaking the wires through the sculpture and out the rear hoof to make it as clean as possible. Both the client and her designer flipped out when they saw the finished product when I delivered it back to its home.
